How to Clean Apple Watch Band

No matter how careful you are, after a while, your apple watch band may start to look dirty and discolored. This is understandable because we know the apple watch is a super accessory due to the variety of functionalities it has. It can be used as a fitness tracker, heart rate monitor, GPS tracker and can also be used to read messages and notifications.

This, therefore, means that you will find yourself wearing it frequently as you head out to the gym, go for hikes, take walks, and of course going to work. The watchband may collect dirt, sweat, and other unpleasant debris along the way, and once in a while, it will need to be cleaned up.

Here is a simple guide on how to clean different apple watch bands.

Before cleaning your apple watch band, it is always a good idea to remove the band from the watch.

Cleaning leather Apple watch bands

  1. Use a clean, non-abrasive, lint-free cloth to wipe the leather band. Gently wipe both sides of the band while paying extra attention to parts of the bands that may trap and hide dirt. A lint-free cloth such as a microfiber cloth is recommended because it will not leave fluff on the band.
  2. If your leather band is still dirty, you can dampen a clean cloth with fresh water and use it to gently scrub the leather band. Be sure not to soak the cloth or soak the leather band in the water because the leather can get damaged as it is not water-resistant.
  3. Use another clean, dry, non-abrasive, lint-free cloth to wipe any residual moisture from the leather band.
  4. Once you are done, allow the leather band to air dry before you attach it back to your apple watch. Leather bands can get damaged when exposed to direct sunlight, high temperatures (using a dryer), and high humidity.

Cleaning Sport band, Solo loop, and Nike Sport band

  1. Wipe the band with a clean, non-abrasive, lint-free cloth.
  2. If the band is not yet clean, you can dampen a clean cloth with fresh water and use it to gently wipe out the dirt. With these bands, you can use mild hand soap.
  3. Once you are done cleaning the band, use a clean, dry, non-abrasive, lint-free cloth to carefully dry the band before you attach it back to your apple watch.

Cleaning other types of bands including buckles and closures

  1. Wipe the band with a clean, non-abrasive, lint-free cloth.
  2. If need be, lightly dampen a clean cloth with fresh water and use it to gently wipe out the dirt.
  3. Once you are done cleaning the band, use a clean, dry, non-abrasive, lint-free cloth to carefully dry the band before you attach it back to your apple watch.
